People change timing chains prior to them snapping because of their use on interference motors. At a BMW dealership they'll do 1&2 as detailed here.I have a 1996 BMW 328i Convertible. It is approaching 90000 miles and I was wondering how much does it cost to have it serviced. I have been told by most people to do it at the dealer because most mechanics know nothing about BMWs.
The car has a timing chain so it doesn't need replacing.
BMWs are indeed known to many mechanics and known well. If you have it, look in your BMW Owner's packet. You will find the answer in the thin one titled Vehicle Maintenance Schedule.Your 10 point answer will come from the dealership or garage. Expect to pay about $300-$500 for the laobr. It also depends upon what the dealer includes in the service. My dealer wanted to charge me $395 just to look at the car. Then add to that the cost of any repairs (additional labor + parts).
