Where is the crank position sensor located on a 1997 Buick Skylark Custom V6/3.1L ?

The GM 3.1 crankshaft position sensor is a cylindrical-shaped sensor located behind the crankshaft pulley. The sensor has three wires on its connector. One outside wire is the 12V power and the other side is the ground. The wire in the middle is the 24X-signal wire

right down by the crank behind the damper. if your going to change it take off the pulley and the damper. once you get into the sensor mark around the old 1 before taking it off so you can put the new 1 on in the same spot. if you don,t get them lined up right it will get ruined as soon as you start to crank the engine. by marking around the old 1 you can put the new 1 on in the same spot.
