I recently purchased the car and after driving it for a month or so I have noticed that the car has a very high oil consumption rate or there is a possible leak somewhere?....I put about 2-3 litres of oil in the car and have been driving it normally (local trips) and about 40-50 miles later the oil level is gone below minimum. I looked under the car and is there a wet patch under the engine on the right hand side of the car which looks like there could have been something leaking. It is black to the touch.

I have read online also that there are people who also have this problem of toyota avensis drinking too much oil but they all had 2000-2002 models.

Any help much appreciated.

so what sort of mileage has it done and more to the point what did you expect from a 8 year old car.
it sounds like toyota should see this car as they keep a record of it's servicing if it has any done that is.
